Amazing U.P.F. Free All Rounder

Finding Ultra Processed Ingredent (U.P.F.) free store cupboard regulars is a challenge so these are a great option! The traditional Italian Piadina is an unleavened flatbread popular as a hot, filled street food snack. These Crosta & Mollica ones are a firm favourite in our household and we use them for lots of things including lunch wraps, pizza bases, gyros wraps, garlic bread and giant nacho’s. I have found them in Sainsburys, Tesco, Waitrose & Ocado for around £2.00 for a pack of four and they are often on offer. My children love them, especially the way they puff up a little in the oven or frying pan!

Containing only the familiar ingredients of Wheat Flour, Salt, Water & Extra Virgin Olive Oil the Piadina’s and other flat breads in their range are a great alternative to most wraps on our supermarket shelves. Most of the wraps and tortilla’s I have found contain emulsifiers and preservatives associated with gastrointestinal inflammation, heart disease, hormonal interference and a damaged gut microbiome.

I always advise changing your regular store cupboard ingredients for ‘ultra processed free’ and you can read more on my blog about why. It’s really important not to worry about occasional eating out and cause yourself additional stress. It is very difficult to avoid ingredients all the time so just focus on improving your ‘regulars’ and explain to the whole family why you make these choices. Our buying habits change what ends up on the supermarket shelves and I have seen the availability of many more U.P.F. free increase in the last year.
